Smoking Goose Introduces New Brat

There’s nothing I love more than a cold beer and a juicy brat on a hot summer day. As if it heard my thoughts all the way in California, Smoking Goose released a new bratwurst: the Caraway & Kölsch Bratwurst. Made in collaboration with Daredevil Brewing Company, the product features the brewery’s Vacation Kölsch, a 2019 Gold Medal Winner at the Indiana Brewers Cup. It’s the latest addition to Smoking Goose’s year-round lineup.

"Serve with gouda, buttered rye, and onion. It's an ideal beer brat for summer grilling and then rolls into a fall entrée over potatoes and under apples sautéed with bacon."

According to a press release, Caraway & Kölsch Bratwursts are linked in natural pork casings and fully cooked, so they’re ready to eat right out of the package or simply to sear and serve hot.

How did such a partnership begin? Chris Eley and Shane Pearson, Owner of Daredevil Brewing Company, got to know one another across the cases at Goose the Market, Eley's full-service butcher shop and gourmet market in Indianapolis, Indiana. Over the last decade, that butcher shop has grown into Smoking Goose, a USDA-inspected production facility that uses old world craft and new world flavors in over 40 varieties of slow cured and smoked meats, salumi, and sausages. When Daredevil Brewing opened its second taproom—a full-service restaurant—it featured Smoking Goose’s meat treats on its menu.
