Beyond the SPAM® brand’s diverse usages is a dedicated and passionate fan base. SPAM’s recently launched flavor, SPAM Korean BBQ Flavored, is a tribute to fans itself. Indeed, SPAM products have been a staple in Korean customs since the Korean War. As the brand remains popular in Korea, the Korean BBQ trends continue on in the United States.
"SPAM Korean BBQ Flavored is a nod to the relationship the SPAM brand has to Korean food culture and the ongoing celebration of global tastes," said Jennesa Kinscher, Senior Brand Manager. "This new variety not only satisfies the comfort and nostalgia our current fans crave, but it also attracts new fans who are eager to try the sweet and zesty flavors that the Korean BBQ dish and experience offers."
The new offering is flavored with gochujang paste, a Korean fermented red chili paste known for its spicy and slightly sweet quality, a blend of soy sauce, sesame, garlic, ginger, and paprika. This is the brand’s 12th permanent variety.
According to a press release, the SPAM brand has teamed up with a well-known NYC based Korean chef to level up her own signature dishes with the brand’s latest flavor.
"Korean BBQ and the SPAM brand are both food and cultural experiences that are best enjoyed together, making this flavor team-up the perfect pairing," said Esther Choi, NYC Chef of môkbar and Ms Yoo. "With a combo of sweet, salty and spice in this new variety, I suggest bringing the extra sizzle to mealtime by grilling it and pairing it with some kimchi."
SPAM Korean BBQ Flavored is available now, exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com.
