This month, the IDDBA rolled out the official speaker lineup of IDDBA 19. Attendees at this years event, held in Orlando, Florida, at the Orlando Orange County Convention Center, June 2-4, will be treated to insights and inspiration courtesy of some industry leaders and professionals as well as some of the world’s most accomplished storytellers.
This year, IDDBA's star-studded storytellers lineup includes Actors Michael J. Fox (Goin’ back in time!) and Rob Lowe and boxing icon Laila Ali.
Michael J. Fox
Michael J. Fox is, of course, the iconic actor made famous by roles in Family Ties and the Back to the Future trilogy. Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, Fox has devoted much of his time to to the campaign for increased Parkinson’s research. As the founder of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Fox is responsible for the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s drug development in the world and has been called “the most credible voice on Parkinson’s research in the world” by The New York Times. The IDDBA promises gripping stories and incurable optimism from its Keynote speaker.
Rob Lowe began his career in similar fashion as a “Brat Pack” idol, and more recently starred in iconic television roles in The West Wing and Parks and Recreation. His most recent project, Stories I Only Tell My Friends: LIVE, based on a memoir, gives a glimpse behind the curtain at Hollywood, fame, fatherhood, and marriage.
Laila Ali is a world-class athlete, fitness and wellness advocate, TV host, home chef, and founder of the Laila Ali Lifestyle Brand. The four-time undefeated boxing world champion and daughter of Muhammad Ali is also a cooking enthusiast, with appearances on Chopped, Late Night Chef Fight, Rachael Ray, and The Chew. Ali has also published her own cookbook Food For Life.

Tosi is the Founder and CEO of Milk Bar, called by Bon Appétit “one of the most exciting bakeries in the country.” Tosi founded the dessert programs at Momofuku and went on to build a culinary empire of her own, and her rapidly expanding brand has outposts in New York, Washington DC, L.A., Boston, Las Vegas, and Toronto. A two-time James Beard award winner, Crain’s New York 40 under 40 honoree, and the author of two highly acclaimed cookbooks, (All About Cake, Momofuku Milk Bar and Milk Bar Life), Tosi will offer opportunities to think outside the box in the dessert space.
