Specialty Food Association Asks Chef Elizabeth Falkner to Host the Front Burner Foodservice Pitch Competition at Summer Fancy Foods Show

The Specialty Food Association (SFA) announced that Chef Elizabeth Falkner will be hosting the popular Front Burner Competition at the upcoming Summer Fancy Food Show. Falkner is an author, artist, TV food consultant, and the President of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs (WCR). Falkner is also a member of City Harvest’s Food Council, a group of top chefs and culinary experts who are dedicated to spreading awareness of the organization’s mission.

She will be appearing in conjunction with her year-round work with City Harvest, New York City’s largest food rescue organization and the partner charity for the Specialty Food Foundation’s post-Show food rescue.

Elizabeth Falkner, Chef“Foodservice is a very specific market,” said Chef Falkner. “I’m intrigued to see how specialty food makers will be pitching their products, which are traditionally geared toward retail.”

According to the association’s press release, the Front Burner Foodservice Pitch Competition began in 2017 at the Winter Fancy Food Show and has continued at both the Summer and Winter Shows. Past winners include Hummustir, a deconstructed hummus-making kit; black pepper bacon jam from TBJ Gourmet; Brooklyn Delhi’s Tomato Achaar condiment; Mike’s Hot Honey, and a michelada shrub from Pacific Pickle Works.

The Front Burner Competition will be held on Monday, June 24 at 5:00 pm at the Jacob Javits Center. The event is open only to registered Summer Fancy Food Show attendees. The Summer Fancy Food Show is a trade only event held from Sunday, June 23 – Monday, June 25.
