Wakefern Food Corp, which announced its acquisition of Nicholas Markets in October of last year, has more news to share on the expanding its portfolio front. The Fresh Grocer, another member of Wakefern, is expanding its footprint with the addition of four stores owned and operated by Nicholas Markets. The Foodtown stores will transition to The Fresh Grocer banner sometime this month.
These new store locations, all of which are based in New Jersey, will mark The Fresh Grocer’s first entrance into the Garden State. The additional units brings the banner’s total store count to 12.
“My customers know they get a top-notch specialty grocery shopping experience at our stores, and we will continue to provide all the things our customers know and love while adding new and exciting features as we rebrand to The Fresh Grocer,” noted David Maniaci, President and CEO of Nicholas Markets, in a press release. “This is the exciting next chapter in my family’s 77-year history in the grocery business. I want to thank shoppers for their ongoing support as we complete our rebranding efforts and make the change to The Fresh Grocer.”
Will Wakefern soon be adding new members to its list? Will these members be taking advantage of old acquisitions and rebranding strategies? Deli Market News is on the case.
