As it continues to experience growth as a leading retailer, Walmart also has its sights set on crucial foodservice endeavors. The big-box chain recently revealed it will be expanding its alliance with Ghost Kitchen Brands to open its first location in the U.S. in Rochester, New York.
“We pride ourselves on having the highest standards for our services. Our business is founded on providing innovative offerings that give our customers the experience they are looking for,” said Darryl Spinks, Senior Director of Retail Services, Walmart U.S. “We are excited to expand our relationship with Ghost Kitchens to continue to bring new and exciting food options to customers, all while providing the convenience our customers need.”
The expanded partnership will make one-stop meal pickup and delivery available to Walmart shoppers from up to 25 popular brands plus several new additions to the Ghost Kitchens’ roster. These new companies include Costa Coffee, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, and Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken, according to a press release.
This announcement will be followed by the company opening additional locations in U.S. Walmart stores over the coming months and into the next year as it builds on the previously formed partnership between Ghost Kitchens and Walmart Canada. These expected expansions include markets such as Texas, California, Illinois, and Georgia, among others.
“We are thrilled for this next chapter of our growth story in the U.S. as we continue innovating with seamless integrations of new and improved restaurant concepts,” George Kottas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ghost Kitchens, added. “We are proud to work with Walmart to create best-in-class, technology-driven customer experiences and make top-tier products more accessible across both Canadian and U.S. markets.”
Ghost Kitchens is an innovative omnichannel experience that allows shoppers to order freshly prepared restaurant meals for delivery or pickup while shopping at select Walmart stores. The expansion of this partnership bolsters the company’s position in the foodservice industry by providing convenient, affordable restaurant solutions to consumers.
