Whole Foods Market is expanding its vegan-friendly offerings with its own take on the increasingly popular milk-alternative category. This month, VegNews reported that the organic and health-focused retailer was adding an almond-milk based yogurt line to its 365 brand.
Instagram account @bigboxvegan first spotted the new line on June 28, posting an image of what appears to be the four flavors that encompass Whole Foods’ almond-milk offering: Vanilla, Mango, Strawberry, and Plain.
The move to expand its own milk-alternative products comes as no surprise, given Whole Foods' role as a major contender in the vegan and specialty foods space. The move also supports the growing trend for vegan-friendly options of all sorts and kinds, which for the yogurt category has included coconut milk, soy-based, and even quark.
How will Whole Foods’ new yogurt line fare in an increasingly crowded category? Deli Market News will continue to keep an eye on the buy- and supply-sides of our industry.
