With California as one of the largest states in the United States, it’s no wonder Amazon has its eyes set on the Golden State. The retail giant is building out its brick-and-mortar locations as part of its expansion plan, bringing several new stores both in Southern and Northern California.
The grocer is opening several new locations in what we Californians colloquially call it SoCal. It debuted in Mission Viejo on April 21 and La Verne on April 28. Soon, Amazon will open its doors in Murrieta on May 5. According to a recent release, all three of the store locations will offer Just Walk Out Shopping, which adds convenience to customers’ shopping experience by giving them the option to skip the checkout line.
Once all three of the new stores are open, Amazon Fresh will have 14 locations in southern California and 30 stores across the country. The new stores will create hundreds of jobs upon each opening, and will donate surplus food to local food banks to support the community.
The stores will include Amazon Fresh’s wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat, and seafood, as well as a range of delicious prepared foods made fresh in-store daily.
In addition, the grocery giant is also introducing a new Amazon Fresh store in Roseville, California, up to the north. The retail giant has confirmed plans to open an Amazon Fresh store in the Sacramento area, but has not specified that store’s location, according to Sacramento Business Journal. There is already a distribution center in Roseville, so the suburban area is prime for future growth.
