Atalanta's DeMedici Imports Celebrates 40 Years of Fine Foods

Happy 40th anniversary to Atalanta’s DeMedici Imports! The brand celebrates four decades as an importer and distributor of specialty foods. From its small, 1979 beginnings in Sugarloaf, NY, it has grown to be a leader in taste education for the specialty food industry.

According to the company’s press release, DeMedici was purchased by the Gellert Global Group in 2007, expanding its channels to a wider audience for its specialty products. DeMedici officially became a division of Atalanta in 2015. Through growth and change, DeMedici has remained committed to its core mission.

With Badia a Coltibuono Tuscan extra-virgin olive oil, DeMedici was the first company to import Tuscan extra-virgin olive oil to the U.S. retail market. The company continued to expand its collection of notable brands of oils, balsamic vinegars, wine and fruit vinegars, pasta, sea salts, and more from Italy, Greece, Spain, and France.

DeMedici’s Executive Vice President, Steve Kaufman, contributes the success of the company to strong brand partnerships and Atalanta’s committed support.
