Atalanta certainly has something to celebrate today! The company recently announced that George Gellert, Chairman and President of the Gellert Group of Companies and Owner of Atalanta Corporation, received the prestigious 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Specialty Food Association (SFA).
This honor was bestowed upon Gellert due to his unwavering commitment to the creation of Atalanta, one of North America’s largest family-owned food importers. Throughout his tenure, he managed acquisitions, investments, and product-expansion initiatives. He grew the business to more than $1 billion in sales.
“It’s just in his DNA to be very open-minded,” remarked Tom Gellert, President of Atalanta, on how his father always looks for new opportunities and challenges within the organization. “This Lifetime Achievement Award is a testament to my father’s outstanding leadership and the lasting impact he has made on the company and the specialty food industry.”
Today, a press release explained, Atalanta imports more than 6,000 food items from its partners in more than 60 countries.
At 86, Gellert still remains active in managing the business. A press release from SFA noted that he is especially involved in areas such as finance and real estate, along with ancillary businesses he has cultivated through the years.
