BetterBrand Appoints Matthew McDonald as Head of Product Development and Innovation; Aimee Yang Comments

After recently closing a $2.5 million funding round in October, BetterBrand is coming out of the gate with a new leader in charge to spearhead growth. The baking company tapped Matthew McDonald, formerly Executive Baker to Thomas Keller Group, to join the team as the new Head of Product Development and Innovation.

According to the release, McDonald will be utilizing his over 20 years of experience in the industry. Most notably, McDonald has led bread and pastry development for prominent restaurants French Laundry, Per Se, and Bouchon. Additionally, he spent six years leading culinary innovation at Arytza, facilitating product development across various cross-functional areas.

McDonald’s addition to the team will take the brand’s innovations to the next level. He will be leading BetterBrand’s product development efforts, applying his extensive knowledge in the baking sector to further Better’s efforts to pioneer the new wave of culinary experience.

Aimee Yang, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BetterBrand, has noted in the statement sent to Deli Market News she “is excited to combine the brand’s proprietary Grain-changing Technology™ with McDonald’s extensive experience.” Yang’s mission is to disrupt the food industry and quiet diet culture by transforming foods with the least nutritional value into foods that are good for you—and taste good, too.
