Champignon North America's Kelly Newsome Discusses Product Portfolio

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ
Thursday, June 2nd, 2022

We’re a mere few days away from International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) 2022, and I know that the industry is champing at the bit to get back out there and showcase what we do best. Champignon North America is one such company eager to get back to it, and its Briette brand is ready to take center stage. I spoke with Kelly Newsome, the company’s Marketing Manager, to learn more.

Kelly Newsome, Marketing Manager, Champignon North America“The market response to Briette has been overwhelmingly positive. First, this is a soft-ripened cheese option with a really mild rind and consistent quality because of our innovative packaging, so the consumer who might have been a bit hesitant to try brie might feel more compelled by Briette’s approachability, and after tasting, it’s incredible creaminess, flavor, and quality,” she shared with me.

Briette comes in five different flavors, which breathes some excitement into the soft-ripened cheese category.

“It gives cheese lovers a lot of delicious options for cheese boards, entertaining, or snacking,” Kelly noted. “Plus, the generous shelf-life of our Briette cheeses is a result of the innovative packaging. This also ensures that each cheese presents consistent quality and perfect maturation for the consumer. The colorful and modern packaging is eye-catching and appealing, and the ‘window to freshness’ allows shoppers to see the cheese inside, so they can see what they are buying.”

Champignon has a longstanding tradition of product innovation and craftsmanship, so it’s no surprise that Briette is taking off the way it is.

Champignon North America is heading into International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) 2022 with its Briette cheese, showcasing a colorful and modern packaging coupled with a longstanding tradition of product innovation and craftsmanship

“We are truly dedicated to quality—both in the craftsmanship of our cheeses and the ingredients that go into them. We use fresh, pasteurized milk from cows that graze the lush meadows of the Allgäu region of Bavaria, Germany, and as a result, Champignon cheeses are famous for their rich, creamy flavor and incredible texture,” Kelly remarked. “Our master cheesemakers have passed down their expert knowledge generation after generation since the company’s founding in 1908. While we are proud and grateful for this long tradition of excellence, we will continue to push forward and develop new, exciting, and irresistible specialty cheeses that meet the demands of the modern specialty cheese shopper both now and in the future.”

The company will be highlighting new products such as Briette and Rougette Bonfire, but it will also showcase classics such as Cambozola, which is celebrating 40 years in the United States market. This tried and true favorite will be further promoted through a Taste the Extraordinary consumer giveaway and marketing campaign.
