As the popularity and importance of humanely raised meat products continues to rise, the need for strong leadership at companies producing these offerings is key. That is why Farmer Focus has announced the appointment of Ed Hinson to Chief Sales Officer along with news of expansion into several new grocery markets.
“I was immediately drawn to Farmer Focus as a rapidly growing, mission-based company with tremendous potential for brand growth,” said Hinson. “In addition to my sales background in the food industry, I grew up around farming and ranching in a small town, so I have a personal passion to address the challenges facing those involved in agriculture.”
Hinson brings with him more than 25 years of sales experience in the food industry, according to a press release. Before joining Farmer Focus, he worked at Dean Foods, where he held several senior-level commercial roles, including leading sales for the company’s ice cream business. He also helped oversee Dean’s expansion into new customers and locations.
Before his time with Dean, Hinson served in executive roles across strategy, sales, and finance at Campbell Soup as well as Consulting Manager in Accenture’s Food & CPG Practice.
In his new role, Hinson will help to build Farmer Focus’ growing retail presence and expand the brand to reach new customers, channels, and markets. In addition, he will lead strategy and evolve processes across sales and supply chain teams that have doubled in size throughout 2021.
Joining the company at a pivotal time, Hinson comes to Farmer Focus as it partners with major retailers including Meijer, Publix, Kroger, Mid-Atlantic, Harris Teeter, and Fresh Market. Due to these expansions in the retail sector, the company grew its family of farmers to over 70 independent family farmers.
The 100 percent organic, Humane-Certified company is helping lead organic category growth, fueling demand from consumers that are looking for more than just organic from their meat products. With its focus on humane treatment of its chickens as well as a commitment to sustainability, the brand has brought new shoppers to the organic sector.
“In addition to attracting new consumers to Farmer Focus, we are growing the organic chicken category as a whole,” said Erik Vaughan, President and Chief Operating Officer. “We are excited for Ed to develop our team and leverage his experience to grow our business and our family of farmer partners.”
Farmer Focus’ grocery presence now reaches over 2,500 stores and is continuing to expand. The company’s products are available in stores and on FreshDirect and Crowd Cow.
Congratulations to Ed Hinson and Farmer Focus as they continue to grow in the food industry!
