Hilmar Cheese Company has recently announced plans to sell its Turlock, CA, milk powder production facility to California Dairies Inc. (CDI) as part of its Strategic Plan 2021. Although the Turlock facility will be divested, the company plans to hold job fairs in two Texas locations in the month of April, signifying that growth is definitely on the company’s mind.
“Our cheese, whey protein, and lactose business remains core to our future,” President and CEO of Hilmar Cheese, David Ahlem, commented in a statement. “The Turlock milk powder facility sale supports our plan to focus on products to grow the strength of our business and fulfill our vision for the future.”
According to news source Powder and Bulk Solids, CDI has stated that it will offer jobs to workers who are already employed at the facility. Hilmar reports that the sale is not expected to impact dairy producers that supply milk to the company.
At the same time, Hilmar will be hosting job fairs on April 24 and 25, where interviews and even job offers will take place. KFDA Amarillo reports that the first job fair will be held at the Amarillo College-Moore County Campus at 1220 East 1st St. in Dumas from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The second will take place at the Texas Workforce Solutions at 1206 West 7th St. in Amarillo from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Last year the company added 20 new positions, but there is no word on how many positions the company is currently looking to fill.
“We’re committed to building on Hilmar Cheese Company’s strong culture and propose to improve lives while setting a bold vision for the future,” said Ahlem. “The Strategic Plan 2021 identifies the strategies we will use over the next three years to create sustainable growth that is repeatable, ethical, and responsible to current and future communities.”
