The plant-based train has officially left the station and is already hurtling across the deli, dairy, bakery, and specialty foods industry at unprecedented speeds. Though the Deli Market News team has been reporting on the burgeoning plant-based trend over the last couple of years, the newswires in 2020 are swimming with plant-based news, with Hormel Foods and Fresh Thyme Farmers Market only making more waves with their latest partnership.

Robbie Koons, Brand Manager, Happy Little Plants®“We know that people are looking to add more plant-based options to their diets and we’re glad to partner with Fresh Thyme to make it easier for people to find it in their stores,’” said Robbie Koons, Happy Little Plants® Brand Manager. Hormel introduced the Happy Little Plants brand in 2019—a brand that offers plant protein products like its flagship ground product.

The new partnership will include the launching of Hormel’s Happy Little Plants products at Fresh Thyme Farmers Market locations

Together, according to a press release, Hormel’s Happy Little Plants brand and Fresh Thyme are teaming up to help fuel the plant-based protein explosion by having a dedicated set of plant-based protein options in each of Fresh Thyme’s 74 locations.

Jason Resner, Vice President, Meat and Seafood, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market“We’ve continued to see our customers looking for a simple and convenient way to find the plant-based alternative products, and we are excited to be one of the few retailers in our category to offer a dedicated area to locate products like Happy Little Plants,” said Jason Resner, Vice President, Meat and Seafood at Fresh Thyme.

The partnership between the meat giant and the grocer will also include the launching of new Happy Little Plants products at Fresh Thyme in the coming months.

As the plant-based trend continues to take over our industry, Deli Market News will report on the latest.
