National wholesale food distributor KeHE Distributers is giving a helping hand to small brands around the world. KeHE recently hosted its virtual Diversity TrendFinder event as part of its commitment to Diversity & Inclusion. At the event, the distributor gave 100 diverse suppliers a chance to pitch products directly to an expert Category Management team and fast track them into distribution.
“KeHE strives to understand and support the unique differences among our employees and partners within the food marketplace. Through programs like KeHE’s DIVERSEtrade and Diversity & Inclusion Council, we do just that!” Gerard Nixon, KeHE’s Vice President of Supply Chain and Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Council, commented in a statement to Deli Market News. “Our DIVERSEtrade™ program breaks down barriers to entry for minority-owned, women-owned, LGBTQ, disability, and veteran-owned businesses.”
The virtual event took place over two days, and the best suppliers were awarded “golden tickets.” According to the release, these tickets allowed brands to move on to the next phase. From there, brands were either selected for onboarding or given an opportunity to participate in the KeHE Summer Show Next Generation Innovation Showcase.
From January 28–February 5, this showcase will be a part of the upcoming virtual tradeshow, where the selected brands will be on display for retail participants to discover.
“With our Diversity & Inclusion efforts, we can support our employees through fostering inclusive relationships and providing development opportunities,” Nixon continued. “We proudly embrace and honor the differences of our fellow employees and those we partner within the supply chain community.”
