I may live in a shoebox, but that doesn’t stop me from entertaining. And what is entertainment without a beautiful spread of specialty products waiting to be gobbled up? One item that will be joining my seasonal rotation is Laura Chenel’s new Chevre en Croute, which will be available just in time for fall promotions this year.
“This delicious and decadent cheese was created to meet consumers’ desire for convenient but elevated options for entertaining during the holiday season as it makes a perfect host gift,” Durae Hardy, Brand Manager, told me. “We recommend merchandising alongside fun accompaniments like jams, chutneys, or fruit syrups—and it’s delicious paired with a dry champagne!”
Made with fresh, artisan goat cheese from the heart of Sonoma, California, Chevre en Croute features tangy goat cheese seasoned with thyme and rosemary and wrapped in a decadent pastry. The offering was created to be enjoyed as an appetizer or convenient vegetarian meal option—it’s perfect served alongside a fresh, seasonal salad, as Durae pointed out. Par baked for convenient hosting, Chevre en Croute comes out of the oven in about 20 minutes, a beautiful, crispy golden brown with a creamy and delicate goat cheese center.
“Chevre en Croute is the first of the popular ‘en croute’ products on the market to be created for goat cheese lovers!” Durae added. “It’s a creamy, tangy goat cheese complemented by thyme and rosemary and wrapped in a decadent pastry dough. It pairs perfectly with sweet or savory items, such as fresh fruit, crackers, mixed nuts, and fig jam. The presentation is visually beautiful and simple to prepare—just heat and serve.”
Chevre en Croute (8.2 oz., SRP $16.99-17.99) was presented for the first time at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show and received lots of excitement. I am just one of the lucky attendees who tried a sample, and let me tell you, this is an offering you want to add to your shelves. Pre-orders are now open, and Laura Chenel anticipates that it will be on shelves by September and through the holidays.
Whether you are prepping the specialty department for entertainment inspiration or whipping up a feast for yourself, Chevre en Croute should be on your radar. For more industry news, keep coming back to DMN.
