Market Hall Foods' Summer Thompson Discusses Second Annual Indie Food Fest

OAKLAND, CA
Thursday, May 8th, 2025

Meet the authors, makers, growers, and brewers making an impact in the specialty food space at the Second Annual Indie Food Fest, taking place throughout and around Rockridge Market Hall this Saturday, May 10.

Summer Thompson, Senior Buyer, Market Hall FoodsWe will be hosting over 30 artisan producers from all over the country in one place,” Summer Thompson, Senior Buyer at Market Hall Foods, told me. “The opportunity to taste everything from California-grown rice to Vermont-made cheese and single-origin South Asian spices in one afternoon is extremely unique.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to taste and mingle with the crafters of cheese, olive oil, charcuterie, chocolate, honey, growers of heirloom beans, premium rice, and local beer brewers (21+ only).

Our main goal is to bridge the gap between our customers and the producers behind some of their favorite ingredients. We believe food is much more meaningful and enjoyable when you know the stories and faces of those who carefully crafted each element of your meal,” Summer explained. “Additionally, we delight in every opportunity to introduce our customers to new ingredients and flavors.”

At the authors’ table, attendees can meet Greens Restaurant Chef Katie Reicher as she signs her debut cookbook, Seasons of Greens: A Collection of New Recipes from the Iconic San Francisco Restaurant, and Georgia Freedman with her latest cookbook, Snacking Dinners: 50+ Recipes for Low-Lift, High-Reward Dinners That Delight. Plus, sip with Paul Marcus Wines as they showcase independent wine producers (21+only).
