Continuing to extend its Midwest footprint, Meijer has announced that May 11 will mark the official opening of its newest supercenter in Elkhart, Indiana. This is the retailer’s 11th location in Northern Indiana.
"We know that value and convenience are key for our customers, and the new store will provide both for Elkhart residents," said Maureen Mitchell, Vice President of the Indiana-Kentucky Region. "Meijer is committed to investing in Northern Indiana, and we look forward to providing a more convenient option close to home for grocery and other everyday needs here in Elkhart."
The supercenter sits at 159,000 square feet and will feature departments including fresh produce, floral, bakery, meat, deli, and more. According to a release, there will be other departments not seen in traditional format stores and a Meijer Express gas station, which will open on April 13.
As the store prepares to open, there are still select job opportunities at the location.
Meijer opened its first store in Indiana in 1994 and has continued to invest in the state since. This location will mark the retailer's 42nd store in Indiana, in addition to a manufacturing facility in Middlebury. Overall, Meijer employs over 10,000 associates statewide.
