As we enter the middle of September, the dawn of fall is ever nearer. A new season brings on new opportunities, and retailers are no exception. Publix Super Markets is taking on a change in its leadership roster as it recently announced two advancements within the company. John Goff has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Retail Operations. In turn, Matt Crawley will be appointed as the next Miami Division Vice President.
According to the release, Goff first stepped into his retail career in 1991 when he worked as a Front Service Clerk in Jacksonville, Florida. Since then, he has advanced through various increasing positions before being promoted to Store Manager in 2005. In 2010, he took on the role of Jacksonville Division District Manager and Miami Division Regional Director in 2014 before arriving at his most previous position as Miami Division Vice President in 2019.
With this latest promotion, Goff will be taking on the mantle of Senior Vice President of Retail Operations officially on January 1, 2022.
As Goff steps up the ladder, Crawley too will be advancing in his position. He will be filling in for Goff as the Miami Division Vice President upon Goff’s promotion.
Crawley started at Publix in 1987 as a Grocery Clerk in Bradenton, Florida. Over the more than three decades that have passed, he has worked in other roles including Store Manager in 1995, Atlanta Division District Manager in 2001, and Atlanta Division Regional Director in 2014.
Publix President Kevin Murphy commented on the appointment of these two distinguished leaders.
“John and Matt are both seasoned, high-energy leaders with a passion for people and helping their teams grow,” said Murphy. “Their ability to motivate associates to give their personal best and deliver the highest level of service will play a critical role in preparing Publix for future growth. We are excited to see all they will accomplish in the next steps of their careers.”
A round of applause all around for John Goff and Matt Crawley as they take on their new positions!
