Schaller & Weber Adds Tomato Ketchup and Pre-Sliced Smoked Turkey to Its Increasingly Diversified Offerings; Clay Nordyke and Phil Franco Share

Can you please everyone in all markets? Schaller & Weber sure is making a strong effort to do so. The company continues to expand its portfolio and bolster its supply chain; the latest additions to this growing repertoire are a new tomato ketchup, complementing a traditional currywurst ketchup, and adding smoked turkey to its pre-sliced lineup.

Clay Nordyke, ACS CCP Director of Business Development, Schaller & Weber“With the new sliced deli line, we are focused on what the customers are asking for. The flavors are very clean, the packaging is both simple and elegant, and of course it’s the first time Ferdinand Schaller’s legendary Black Forest Ham is available in a CPG format,” Clay Nordyke, ACS CCP Director of Business Development, shared. “We have been partnered with Central Market since they opened in 1994, and they were the first retailer to take on the full sliced deli line. But, due to general market scarcity and the demand for turkey products, they asked if we could produce a smoked version of our Oven Roasted Turkey. We immediately started working on the recipe and are ecstatic with the final product and are ready to launch it.”

Contributing to that rising demand is, of course, grilling and picnic season being in full swing across the States.

Phil Franco, Director of West Coast Sales, Schaller & WeberSomething that all buyers should keep in mind amid sausage grilling season is not to miss out on that add-on sale by not having the right condiments nearby,” Phil Franco, Director of West Coast Sales, advises. “At Schaller, we have our new tomato ketchup, along with the very traditional currywurst ketchup, Bavarian Sweet and Spicy mustard, Dusseldorf Horseradish mustard, German Pickles, Sauerkrauts, and Rotkohl to pair with every wurst we sell.”

Something else to remember, Phil adds, is that while we have finished with the fireworks of Fourth of July, retailers should not ease up on barbecue merchandising strategies.

“During the grilling season, we have many options for promotions; this includes not just Memorial Day, Father’s Day, and Fourth of July, but Labor Day to close it out,” he shares, adding that while Fourth of July is his favorite, being such a national celebration of our country’s independence, there is still plenty of runway left in summer sales. “We go outside, enjoy the warm summer sun, and celebrate. With everything going on today, over the last two years, we have seen more and more people taking the opportunity to come together to grill their favorite sausages. Luckily, we’ve got such a broad assortment of SKUs that there really is something for everyone.”

With those SKUs comes skilled advice on ensuring extra dollars at checkout, not to mention the care and expertise passed on through the decades Schaller & Weber has been in business.

And my sources share that there is still much to come once the back-to-school season arrives, so continue to keep an eye on Deli Market News as we report more on this and other expanding businesses in our industry.
