As the plant-based foods industry continues to see meteoric momentum, Tofurky, a leading producer of plant-based proteins in the U.S. and a long-standing OG in the plant-based meat game since 1980, is branching out from its beloved plant-based meats with a new line of dairy-free frozen cheesecakes under the brand Moocho. You heard that right—Tofurky is known for something other than faux turkey, and the sweet news comes in the form of cheesecakes. The line of dairy-free desserts dubbed Moocho Cheesecakes are creamy, no-bake, and oh-so-delicious.

Jaime Athos, CEO, Tofurky“After including a plant-based espresso cheesecake in our limited-edition holiday feast kits this past year, we received overwhelming feedback from people asking us to sell desserts year-round,” said Jaime Athos, CEO. “Making tasty plant-based foods that make a positive impact on people, animals, and the planet is our mission, so we’re excited for this category expansion.”

The chef-crafted desserts are 100 percent non-GMO; made with organic, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible; and are gluten-free with a rice flour crust. According to the press release, the cheesecakes will come in three fan-favorite flavors including Lemon Berry Swirl, New York Style, and Double Chocolate. Moocho Cheesecakes will be available in chilled bakery and frozen dessert cases year-round in four packs of single-serving cheesecakes of the same flavor or in a variety pack for $12.99. The variety pack will include two New York Style Cheesecakes, one Lemon Berry Swirl Cheesecake, and one Double Chocolate Cheesecake.

With the holidays fast approaching, consumers can get on board with Tofurky’s Holiday Feast Kit, featuring the original Tofurky Roast along with the coffee-inspired cheesecake flavor that uses a special espresso ingredient from pacific northwest neighbors, Nossa Familia. I can’t guarantee that the feast kit won’t give you food coma, but it definitely is guaranteed for great flavor. After all, Tofurky has been creating its staple Tofurky Roast since 1995, making this the 25th anniversary for this iconic product.

As awareness and demand for delicious, plant-based options expand, so too will Tofurky’s portfolio. From vegans to flexitarians to plant-based appreciators, the latest line is definitely something to look out for. Keep reading Deli Market News for all the latest in this hot category.
