The new Open Prairie line was created to meet the priorities of customers and retailers nationwide. According to a press release, one of the inspirations behind the convenient offering was based off of recent surveys that showed 71 percent of consumers reached for protein products from the meat case rather than the full-service counter. In the same survey, 80 percent of consumers also believed that ready-cut meats were as good as store-cut products. Tyson took these tidbits and combined them to make a line that could be easily swooped up by shoppers and added to their carts hassle free.
To extend the ease of its new product line to retailers, Tyson Fresh Meats created compact designs that are leakproof, vacuum-sealed, and easy to merchandise. This extends shelf-life and may reduce shrink, while also leaving meat cases much cleaner. Marketing support from the Beef & Pork ExpertsTM at Tyson is also offered to those who carry the new offerings.
Further appealing to consumers everywhere, Open Prairie Natural Meats touts pork and Angus beef that comes from animals raised without antibiotics, added hormones or growth supplements, and are fed a vegetarian diet. As part of Tyson Fresh Meat’s “Never Ever” brand, shoppers can rest assured that the products they are eating are all-natural. The new line also is one of the first brands to offer DNA traceability in the U.S. through Tyson’s Trusted Path™ Program.
