Throughout not only the challenges of the pandemic, but the company’s history, United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) has not been one to shy away from lending a helping hand to its supplier network. In a new move, the distributor has taken another step forward in its mission to bolster its supply-side partners, as it has joined forces with Crisp, a programmatic commerce platform for the food and beverage industries, looking to use the platform to share, manipulate, and utilize UNFI data with suppliers to optimize their planning and distribution insights.

Chris Testa, President, United Natural Foods, Inc.“Finding and delivering innovative solutions that help our suppliers respond quickly to new opportunities and insights is critical in this constantly evolving industry,” said Chris Testa, UNFI President. “This relationship with Crisp is a great example of how UNFI is helping food companies better leverage data to make smart decisions going forward and ultimately improve the service level to our retail customers. I encourage all our suppliers to explore this new offering.”

UNFI’s network of CPG brands can now easily keep track of UNFI sales and inventory levels across their retail channels using the Crisp platform. According to a press release, the connection between UNFI and Crisp will eliminate the need for food and beverage companies to manually download and update their own Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, overall saving time and reducing errors.

Are Traasdahl, Chief Executive Officer, Crisp“Through this relationship with UNFI, brands now have access to valuable supply chain data,” said Are Traasdahl, CEO, Crisp. “With this improved workflow, Crisp is delivering higher levels of supply chain visibility to leading food and beverage brands and is helping UNFI brands use data to improve performance.”

The new partnership will also provide real-time data integration so that managers have access to the most relevant, timely distribution data in order to keep shelves properly stocked and consumers satisfied. Additionally, through customizable dashboards, managers will get visual reports they need to quickly identify performance issues, voids, regional sales opportunities, and other vital business insights.

Katz Gluten Free, part of UNFI’s network, has already signed on to use the Crisp Connector, and has seen immediate value in the platform. Roberto Cruz, Katz’s Marketing Director commented.

“From reports, you can build insights, and then build a data-driven case for additional items, increased shelf space, or more merchandising. The key is to create value for our partners by leveraging the data to generate valuable consumer insights,” he said.
